What is Non-profit Organization “Buddha Foundation”
In 1996 in Hamamatsu city, lead from a relief of a migrant worker from Nepal, the first Gratuitous medical examination for foreigners was held. Since then, this examination has been held continuously. In 2001, the companions of this examination visited Nepal and heart ached by facing the extremely poor sanitation, education circumstance and medical structure, they started to support Nepal establishing the Buddha Foundation. Nepal is well known as a land of beautiful nature with the world’s highest Mount Everest, however it is seldom known that it is one of the world’s poorest countries and is the poorest in Asia. Mountainous lands limits agriculture at small terraced fields and there are no other major industries, which makes the country unable to set up without migrant working overseas and support from other countries. We established “Buddha Foundation” in 2001 and became a Non-profit Organization. Despite of the fluid political situation, we have continued our support activity and in 2004, our activity became recognized by the certified Non-profit Organization in Japan, which allows tax preference to donation.
